WBR Insights is looking for a part-time copywriter and business analyst to contribute to ongoing industry research, data analysis, and long-form writing projects.This position can be 100% remote from any location in the United States. The ideal candidate will have five (5) years of professional writing experience, preferably in a marketing or research role.He or she should be passionate about learning niche business subjects and writing about them in a compelling way.


Other requirements include:

  • Understanding of, or willingness to learn about, over a dozen unique industries and verticals
  • Ability to read, analyze, an draw conclusions about multiple sets of data in each project
  • Impeccable grammar, punctuation, and syntax; above average vocabulary
  • Capacity to accept constructive criticism and revise texts to meet project goals
  • Experience working with designers or an eye for design preferred
  • Experience with professional copyediting or transcription a plus
Superior candidates could take on additional responsibilities and benefits, to be determined by our marketing manager. For this purpose, superior candidates should have experience with:
  • Directing and regularly interacting with a digital design team
  • Managing the lifecycle of online surveys using SurveyMonkey
  • Sourcing industry experts and interviewing them over the phone

This is a three-month contract position with the likelihood of extension. The contractor must be available to work at least 15 hours per week. We offer flexible scheduling but require the contractor to meet at least once per week during regular Eastern business hours.

Our newly founded Brand Marketing Department is building a collaborative team of copywriters, strategists, and event producers who work together as an internal agency for the organization. Reporting to the Head of Content, the role will work within this cross-functional team to develop copy for articles, email, white papers, sales collateral, landing pages, and various product marketing content needs.

The ideal candidate for this role will be passionate about creating quality content and has experience writing about software development. Because we function as an internal agency whose motto is “How can we help?” this role requires a dedication to quality customer service.


Responsibilities:

  • Develop copy for a wide range of brand and product marketing needs including articles, emails, white papers, sales collateral, landing pages and more
  • Maintain the GitHub voice across all branded content
  • Copyedit content to ensure proper grammar and tone based on GitHub’s style manual
  • Work closely with stakeholders throughout the team and the broader organization to gather content requirements
  • Collaborate with the Design and Marketing Operations teams to get projects shipped


Minimum Qualifications:

  • 3+ years experience as a copywriter with a portfolio showing a wide range of projects
  • Strong editing skills and ability to write according to a specific style guide
  • Ability to manage multiple projects at once
  • Understands the software development audience we’ll be writing for
  • Agency experience a plus
  • Experience using GitHub a plus

Community Support Specialist

TED is looking for a part-time Community Support specialist, ideally based in the midwestern United States, who can help respond to our community’s inquiries about our various media platforms, programs, and initiatives. This 3-6 month contract position is based remotely but reports virtually to TED’s New York office. The contract can possibly be extended beyond 3-6 months based on performance and team needs.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Respond to and resolve TED’s community support issues using in-depth and broad knowledge of the entire TED organization
  • Clarify complex inquiries and direct them to the appropriate TED team
  • Work with the Community Support leads to prioritize user issues as they arise, and create organizational awareness around trending issues as they emerge
  • Work with the leads to flag website or app bugs, and track potential website or app improvements


Requirements:

  • The capacity to be infinitely patient, authentic, and warm with our community
  • Excellent written communication skills
  • Possession of a wide range of technical knowledge
  • Comfortable working with technical terms you may not yet understand
  • Comfortable in a startup-like environment where everyone wears multiple hats
  • A collaborative team player who is also comfortable working independently
  • Excited by the prospect of constantly improving our systems for bug tracking and ticketing
  • Capable of and willing to work remotely
  • In possession of a working computer with reliable internet access
  • Ability to pass a short writing test


Experience:

  • At least one year of experience doing customer support, either virtual or customer-facing

A passion for TED talks, and a broad interest in the world – including science/technology, design/architecture, global development, entertainment/arts – are big pluses. Multilingualism (especially in Spanish) is helpful, but not required. Candidates should find fulfillment in details, efficiency, logistics, and consistency, and should be comfortable working in the casual but high-minded work environment of a nonprofit organization.
