The Role
Roadtrippers' users are looking for new and exciting places to visit, and we are the wizards weaving the spells that open their eyes. We are the clockmakers and we are the machinists. We build the tools used to feed fuel to our data machine, and we keep the parts moving smoothly. As a Web Developer you will work with other developers as well as our business, content, and design teams to enhance the Roadtrippers experience.
Development at Roadtrippers is fast-paced. We balance the need to deploy a features quickly with keeping it running smoothly. Some days you will be building a hot, new feature that will blow minds, and others you will be refining an older feature to bring back that new-feature smell.
We are looking for problem solvers who can write code to simplify the complexities of travel planning and discovery at scale, for the world's travelers!
Skills & Requirements
Qualifications
- Professional experience in a software development role, past project code, or a degree in Computer Science or similar field
- Experience with full stack web development and versatile across client, server and database
- Comfortable using distributed version control, like Git
- Understanding of native web app architecture and modern frameworks
- Knowledge of the Linux command line and tools
- A hunger for learning, self improvement and willingness to accept constructive criticism
- Working as both a self guided team member or project team leader is a must
- Familiarity with mapping SDKs and geospatial data is a plus
- Experience with Amazon Web Services (AWS) is a plus
- Konami Code bonus points for experience growing or working on a highly available product or service at scale
Our tech stack includes, but isn't limited to: Ruby on Rails, React, Mapbox, PostgreSQL, PostGIS, Elasticsearch, and Redis. We utilize much of Amazon Web Services (AWS) including EC2, RDS, SQS, Lambda, and SNS, and automate it with Ansible. Experience is beneficial, not required.
